The FINAL of the Zhongar Monsoon Departmental Football Tournament took place at Mongar Public Ground on 16 August 2025, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic spectators from across Mongar.
The final was honored by the presence of dignitaries including Dasho Dzongdag, Drangpon, Dasho SP, and other esteemed guests. Fourteen teams representing various departments under Mongar Dzongkhag participated. The tournament was held to celebrate the Fourth King’s 70th birth anniversary, foster camaraderie among participants, promote health by combating non-communicable diseases (NCDs), strengthen community spirit, and stimulate the local economy.
Before the main event, an exhibition match featuring regional legends versus the MโDzong legends offered a showcase of enduring talent, inspiring the youth and community alike. This spirited preview ended with the regional legends emerging victorious, scoring two goals.
The championship match featured Brotherโs United (ERRH) versus MHSS Giants (Mongar Higher Secondary School). At the end of regulation time, both teams were tied at 2โ2, leading to extra time. Brotherโs United scored in the 95th minute to take the lead and secured their victory with an additional goal in the 107th minute, thus being crowned champions of the tournament.
On behalf of the Mongar Sports Association, heartfelt gratitude was extended to all teams for their exceptional physical and mental dedication, as well as to the hardworking officials whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
