On July 27, 2026, A consultation meeting on waste management was convened by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliment of Bhutan to review the existing waste management practices in Mongar Dzongkhag.

The meeting focused on assessing the current waste management system, identifying key issues and challenges, and discussing practical strategies to improve the efficiency and sustainability of waste management services in the Dzongkhag.

The consultation was attended by Dasho Dzongdag, Dasho Dzongrab, representatives from ERRH, and concern sector heads.

During the meeting, participants highlighted challenges such as increasing waste generation, inadequate segregation at source, infrastructure constraints, and the need for stronger coordination among stakeholders.

The meeting concluded with recommendations to strengthen waste segregation, enhance public awareness and community participation, improve waste collection and recycling systems, and reinforce collaboration among relevant agencies to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable Mongar Dzongkhag.
