The consecration ceremony of the Garmani Eastern POL Depot was presided over by Ven. Lam Neten of Mongar Dratshang, accompanied by Lams, Lopens, and monks, who conducted the Lhabsang Thruesel ritual in the morning.

The inaugural ceremony was honored by the presence of His Excellency, Lyonpo Namgyal Dorji, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Employment. The event was also attended by Dasho Dzongdag, Dasho Drangpon, Dasho SP, local government leaders, the proprietor of M/s. Passang Construction, as well as regional heads from Mongar and Gyalpoizhing.

The Hon’ble Minister’s presence, despite his busy schedule, underscores the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening fuel security in the region. The participation of esteemed dignitaries highlights the collective dedication to enhancing energy security and distribution. This milestone reflects meticulous planning, dedicated efforts, and a significant step forward in ensuring a reliable fuel supply.

The establishment of this depot was made possible through the generous financial support of the Government of India under TFS, with a total project cost of Nu. 324.684 million. Spanning 10.33 acres, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to optimize operations, enhance maintenance capabilities, and ensure efficient fuel and LPG distribution across the region.

At present, the depot houses underground storage tanks with a capacity of 1,000 KL each for petrol and diesel. However, due to budget constraints, only 114 KL of petrol and 111 KL of diesel are currently stocked, with plans to gradually reach full capacity as funding allows. Additionally, the depot has stocked 6,143 LPG cylinders.

The newly built residential and emergency infrastructure will significantly improve the capacity to store and distribute fuel and LPG, ensuring preparedness for natural disasters and emergencies. This facility stands as a testament to progress, resilience, and a collective commitment to the well-being of communities in the region and neighboring Dzongkhags.
