The Dzongkhag Administration, Mongar, organized a two-day Mass Cleaning Campaign on the 14th and 15th of December, 2024, as part of the buildup program to celebrate the 117th National Day. The campaign also aimed to contribute to fulfilling the goal of "Zero Waste," an initiative by Her Majesty the Gyaltshuen, which targets making Bhutan waste-free by 2030.
The campaign was joined by staff from regional offices, the Dzongkhag Administration, the Royal Bhutan Police, Dessups, Dratshang, Gewogs, and the business communities of Gyalpoizhing and Mongar town.
On the first day, the campaign began at Gangola and extended to the entrance gate of Mongar town. Simultaneously, the Gyalpoizhing team started from Kurizampa and proceeded to Gyalpoizhing town. Approximately 100 people participated, and about 800 kilograms of waste were collected.
On the second day, the cleaning campaign began at Changshingpek and extended to the entrance gate of Mongar town. Around 120 individuals participated, and approximately 600 kilograms of waste were collected.
The two-day campaign concluded successfully, with a total of about 1,400 kilograms of waste collected.
