Yakgang Lhakhang

The Yakgang lhakhang in a small village next to the town is another sacred monument in the Dzongkhag. It was built by Sangdag, the youngest son of Terton Pema Lingpa sometimes in the 16th century. When Chhoekhor Deb was about to crush a box of treasures revealed by Terton Pema Lingpa, three small statues were said to have escaped flying to Yakgang Lhakhang, Jakar Dzong and Dongkola Temple. This two-storied temple resembles Trashigang Yangneer Lhakhang in designs. It's architecture is just like any other traditional Bhutanese buildings. Today, the lhakhang plays an important role in the religious life of the people.
